The Storm

The signs were there. I should’ve taken heed.

The cloudy skies, the rainy days.

Yet I could not see clearly through the winter haze.

So was I lost in the storm without a second to breathe.

She swept through, not fast, but slow, to tease the pain.

Destroying, employing destructive force.

She so skillfully mastered through years of her course.

I could not, for the life of me, stand the rain.

When she did leave, my world she left frayed.

My dreams in shambles, my life but debris.

I just want my life the way it used to be.

Before she cam in and swept it away.

Dawn

Denied a childhood, she lives her life in what she was denied.

A pure, untamed heart inside a body of armor lies.

Why does no one see her goodness? In friendship she offers wealth.

No one see the beautiful person she is, not even herself.

What the Hell!

I had a dream that I died and met the Lord.

I lived in Heaven. It was beautiful, but I was bored.

The Lord saw my boredom and asked me what was wrong.

I told him that I needed you, the only girl I loved so strong.

He thought for a second, picked up a book and read.

He said, “No worry my son, in two days she’ll be dead!”

I jumped around in joy, but then the Lord said, “Wait!

No! I’m sorry, she’s going the other way. She’s devil’s bait!”

I asked if there was anything, anything he could do.

He said, “Well.” I said, “Anything.”

He sent me to Hell to be with you.

Materialist Love

Oh, my love’s like nothing!

It doesn’t exist.

It’s naught but biochemical bliss.

A physical process,

in fact, its like gas.

Occasional discomforts

arise as its passed.

Come join along

in my song as I sing

Love’s that wondrous

non-existent thing.
