Leave Me
Leave me so that I can begin that initial step
toward admitting that I have a problem
and working out my addiction to loving you.
Leave me so that I can keep searching for that special
person who will love me for who I am
and not who they want me to be.
Leave me so that you can keep searching for that special
person who will love you more than I ever could
and maybe one day you’ll realize that person is not you.
And of course, I originally thought this thing was so witty and brilliant. Sadly, I realize now that it’s just a spiteful piece of rubbish. But it stays here in the poetry archives for my personal historical purposes.
